Spine Aligning
The first step in building a set of clubs is to put each shaft thru a spine finder to locate the flex plane of the shaft or the line of plane on which the shaft will bend and recover in a straight line. Even the highest quality shafts made today have imbalances or spines, which represent the strongest side of the shaft. How these spines are aligned in a set of clubs determines how each club performs in relation to the others. We find the spine and fit the shaft into the head with the spine facing towards or away from the target. This way we are isolating the spine and placing it at the same position of each club so it is no longer a factor in the flex of the shaft and contributes to making a more consistent club.

We would like to clear up a myth on spine alignment.
There is no real solid proof that a shaft can be oriented to
aid in the drawing or fading of the ball, I truly believe in spine matching as an effective means for the shaft to be more consistent. For someone to claim that they can align the shaft to aid in fading or drawing the ball is "smoke and mirrors".
